History of IWC
Judy Clay | Veronica Eid | Diana Leitch |
In the Fall of 1988 three women Judy Clay, Veronica Eid and Diana Leitch who had lived abroad for a number of years when their husbands were transferred overseas by the DuPont Company, met to discuss a common concern. Each of these women had wonderful experiences abroad, but they also recognized that there could be certain challenges unique to women who leave their homelands to set up residence in another country. Based on their personal experiences and with a real passion to help, the threesome reached out to women moving to the US from different countries as well as to women returning to the US after an assignment abroad. A first event was planned for the day before Thanksgiving 1988, and the International Women’s Club (IWC) has moved forward ever since. Since then, and as the group grew, the Club’s scope broadened to also welcome women whose work, studies or interests take them abroad; as well as women who want to enjoy and share in the exchange of multicultural experiences. The purpose of the IWC was then and continues to be to provide support.
