Nothing is quite as tough as arriving in a new country with a young family and not knowing a soul ...
In keeping with the mission of the Club, we offer a range of educational and cultural programs including language teaching, nutrition, exercise, understanding the US educational and medical systems, and insights into the many cultures represented by the Club’s membership.
Cuisine
Cuisine includes cooking demonstrations, nationality luncheons and food related excursions.
The demos, offered at the Club, provide an opportunity to learn new techniques, view preparations,
receive recipes and shopping tips. Nationality luncheons, held in members’ homes, highlight the
cuisine and culture of a particular country. Cuisine related excursions include visits to restaurant
schools and kitchens, ethnic groceries and restaurants.
Craft
Once a month, a Craft class such as knitting and Scrapbooking is offered, which will often reflect
the current month or holiday season.
Language Classes
Taught at the Club, classes are small, personal and provide a conducive environment for learning a language.
Various levels of English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Japanese are currently offered.
Healthy Lifestyles
Pilates, T’ai Chi and stretching classes are offered at the Club, whilst golf lessons are arranged for
members at local facilities. Hiking is also organized regularly.
Moms & Tots
Nothing is quite as tough as arriving in a new country with a young family and not knowing a soul!
The Moms & Tots group serves as a huge welcome mat to all IWC newcomers with pre-school children.
Baby sitting is available on Club mornings for a flat rate charge per child to allow Moms to
participate in some of the many activities.
Special Events
These are essentially an opportunity to get together with husbands and are themed depending upon the time of year.
Tours
Museum tours, art exhibits and day trips to local places of interest are offered each month either by
bus or carpooling. The annual December trip to New York City by bus is always very popular. Guests are welcome
on all tours, but unfortunately no children are allowed.
